Counselling in Victoria

Life stories matter. They can embolden and empower and bring us to a better understanding of ourselves.

How might the stories you tell yourself affect you in your daily life?

  • Do they interfere with your relationships?

  • Do they try to convince you that things will never get better?

  • Have you ever told yourself a different story that was more empowering?

Your Stories Matter

As a narrative therapist, Karen honours each and every person who comes to her for counselling. It takes courage to seek help and Karen recognizes this with compassion and kindness.

Karen’s approach is warm and inviting and she is committed to creating an environment that welcomes calmness and safety.

Trauma Counselling

Narrative therapy helps people to feel safe enough to tell their stories.  People can share as much or as little as they feel comfortable.  It is important that they tell their story in their own way, on their own terms, using words that are relevant to their experience.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is curious about stories and is committed to a relational view of people and their problems. Questions steeped in “not knowing, but eager to learn more” leads to rich dialogue, where forgotten or undervalued stories often live.

Therapeutic Letter Writing

Letters written by Karen a few days after each therapy session highlight important words and phrases used by the client. Letters offer an extension of therapy and can help carry people through challenging moments in their lives.

Grief Counselling

Narrative Therapy is interested in saying “hello” to relationships that ended in a death loss. Through re-membering conversations, Karen opens space for people to share about their deceased loved one, bringing them into the present and giving the relationship new life.

Communication

Sessions can be virtual through the JANE app, over the telephone or in person in Karen’s home office.
